Footprints: When God Carries Us Through

Footprints: When God Carries Us Through

There are seasons in life when prayers seem unanswered, burdens feel heavier than we can carry, and God's presence feels farther away than ever.

We pray. We wait. We wonder.

And sometimes, in the middle of everything, we find ourselves asking, "God, where are You?"

But one thing I've come to understand is that God's silence does not mean His absence.

The beautiful message behind Footprints in the Sand reminds us that there are moments when we see only one set of footprints, not because God has left us, but because He is carrying us.

When I look back on my own journey, I can think of so many moments when I wondered how I would make it through. Times when I felt overwhelmed, uncertain, and stretched beyond what I thought I could handle.

Yet somehow, I made it through.

At the time, I thought I was simply being strong. I thought I was finding the strength to keep going on my own. But looking back now, I recognize something different.

It wasn't just my strength. It was God's grace carrying me.

Not every prayer was answered the way I hoped. Not every situation turned out the way I imagined. Some seasons took longer than I wanted, and some lessons came through experiences I would never have chosen for myself.

But even through those moments, God was working. He was teaching me patience, surrender, and how to trust Him when I couldn't see what was ahead.

Isaiah 46:4 reminds us:

“I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.”

What a beautiful promise. God doesn't simply walk with us through the easy seasons. He promises to carry us, too.

I've learned that faith isn't about having every answer or knowing exactly how everything will turn out. It's about believing that even when life feels uncertain, God remains faithful.

Sometimes, we spend so much time wishing a difficult season would end that we forget to recognize the grace sustaining us through it.

We may not understand why certain things happen. We may not see the purpose in the waiting, the disappointment, or the struggle. But that doesn't mean God has stopped caring for us.

When I think about those single footprints in the sand, I no longer see abandonment. I see love. I see grace. I see a God who never left, even when I couldn't recognize His presence.

Sometimes, the greatest evidence of God's presence isn't found in the footsteps we leave behind, but in the storms we made it through.

So, if you're in a difficult season right now, take heart. You don't have to figure everything out today. You don't have to carry every burden by yourself. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep taking one step at a time.

And when you look back, you may realize that the moments you thought you were walking alone were actually the moments God was carrying you the most.

Even when you couldn't see His hand, you were never beyond His care.

For that, I am grateful.

With love,
Linda 🤎
