Iron Sharpens Iron
The people around you matter more than you realize.
There is a reason we say, “the right hand washes the left, and the left hand washes the right.” Life was never meant to be lived completely on our own. We need people who encourage us, challenge us, support us, and remind us of who we are when we forget.
The truth is, not every relationship is meant to have the same level of access to you.
Some people leave you feeling inspired. Some leave you feeling exhausted. Some celebrate you genuinely, while others only feel comfortable when you are not doing better than they are.
And you have to learn the difference.
The right people in your life won't feel the need to dim your light just so theirs can shine brighter. They won't make your growth feel like a threat. They won't compete with every win or make you question whether you're allowed to dream bigger.
Instead, they'll say:
“Go for it.”
“I'm proud of you.”
“You can do this.”
“Have you thought about looking at it this way?”
They'll celebrate your growth, but they'll also challenge you when you need it. They'll speak life into your ideas, tell you the truth with love, and push you toward becoming the person you're capable of being.
And here's the beautiful part:
You should be that person for them too.
Iron sharpens iron.
The healthiest relationships aren't built on one person constantly pouring while the other constantly receives. There is a beautiful reciprocity in having people who can pour into you while you pour into them.
Because we're all becoming.
And who you become is influenced by what surrounds you.
Think about the conversations you have every day. The mindsets you constantly hear. The habits you start considering normal. The dreams people around you encourage or discourage. The energy you repeatedly allow into your life.
It all adds up.
Your environment is shaping you, whether you realize it or not.
That's why choosing your circle isn't about being exclusive or thinking you're better than anyone else. It's about being intentional about the voices you allow to become part of your inner world.
Stay close to people who make you want to grow.
People who inspire wisdom.
People who remind you of your purpose.
People who bring peace instead of unnecessary chaos.
People who celebrate your elevation instead of questioning why you're rising.
And most importantly, become that kind of person too.
Be the friend who celebrates someone else's win without making it about yourself.
Be the person who tells someone the truth because you love them enough to see them grow.
Be the person who reminds someone of their potential when they're struggling to see it themselves.
Because the right circle isn't one where everyone is competing to be at the top.
It's one where everyone is helping each other rise.
Sometimes your next level isn't waiting for you to work harder.
Sometimes it's waiting for you to get around the right people.
Choose your circle wisely.
Sharpen one another.
Grow together.
And make room for everyone to rise.
Love,
Linda
