Stepping Away to Hear Better

Stepping Away to Hear Better

We spend so much of our lives trying to avoid the quiet. We fill our schedules, reach for our phones, and surround ourselves with constant noise. Somewhere along the way, we begin to believe that being busy means we're moving forward.

But I've learned that some of God's clearest direction comes in the stillness.

Jesus often stepped away from the crowds and even from His disciples to spend time alone with His Father. Those moments weren't empty. They were intentional. Before major decisions, after performing miracles, and during seasons of ministry, He made space for silence and prayer.

Think about trying to hear a whisper in a crowded room. It's almost impossible. Our lives can become just as noisy with opinions, distractions, responsibilities, and endless notifications. When everything around us is demanding our attention, it's easy to miss the gentle voice of God.

Then life slows down.

The noise fades.

And suddenly, we begin to hear what God has been saying all along.

I've also realized that solitude has a way of revealing what's happening within us. It uncovers habits that need changing, wounds that need healing, fears we've been avoiding, and places where God wants to grow us. Those slower seasons often become the ones that transform us the most, not because everything changes around us, but because God changes something within us.

This week, I want to encourage you to step away for just 15 uninterrupted minutes each day.

Put your phone away.

Turn off the music.

Open your Bible.

Bring a journal.

Sit quietly before God, not to rush for answers, but simply to be with Him.

You may discover that He has been speaking all along. Sometimes we just need to become quiet enough to hear Him.

"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

Make room for the quiet. You may be surprised by what God has been waiting to tell you.

Your Sister in Christ,
Linda
